"Three Sunflowers". I liked the way this painting turned out, then I applied a few different thin glazes over some parts of the painting like the background and the vase. Then I liked it even more. I really like making a painting of sunflowers in an impressionist style or it starts to get plastic looking.
This is my latest painting, painted on 8/27/2013. It is of a blue tree. I'm not sure what type of tree it is but if anyone knows, I would appreciate it if they let me know. Anyway, I found it beautiful enough to paint.
I felt like painting a house this time. I saw this little house while walking around the neighborhood. It's actually a guest house or cottage behind a larger house. I thought it was worthy of painting.

"A Leaning Tree"

This tree in the park caught my eye while I was scoping out the area looking for my next tree subject. I was attracted to the leaning characteristic of this one that made it stand out.

"Into the Woods" 5 in. x 7 in. - Oil on hardboard panel - by Bob Kimball
A painting from my visit to the park on Saturday, March 16th. I caught this area of the park on just the right time of day with the sun high above and to the right. It seemed like it was just the right time for all the colors to harmonize perfectly.

"March in the Park II" 5 in. x 7 in. - Oil on hardboard panel - by Bob Kimball
This is from my latest "Trees" series, only longer in size. It is 6" x 18". I've been wanting to paint a larger painting like this lately, with a panorama view. I painted this one with brushes and a palette knife
"Sun at Sea" 5 in. x 7 in. - Oil on hardboard panel - by Bob Kimball
I'm glad to see the change of the season. I like the winter but I like the longer days to paint more often outside. I used very little brush work in this painting using mostly the palette knife.

"River in Autumn" 5 in. x 7 in. - Oil on hardboard panel - by Bob Kimball
This area of southwestern Utah was locked in my memory for a long time and I finally painted it on a panel. It is painted with a heavy texture with a palette knife.
6 in. x 6 in. original oil painting of a patch of sunlight in a late summer afternoon. I painted this from memory from a trip to southern Utah. It is painted on a hardboard panel and it is signed and varnished.
